-Your interpretation of the character-
(In answering these questions you are free to cite canonical source material as long as you don’t plagiarize. Please try to portray a rounded view of the character you’re applying for.)

What interests you about this character? Is there anything specific you would like to do with them? Examples include exploring their relationship with specific characters, hold a drinking contest with one of the oni or hosting a grand party for all of Gensokyo.

Satori is quite interesting because of her inherent ability to read peoples' minds. This being the case, she tends to bluntly make it obvious that she knows everything about you, or she'll use her ability to needle and poke at your weaknesses until you go into a fit of rage or embarrassment. It's quite a fun idea.

I also have quite an incident set up from before that I believe will be a fun break from the “everyday life” style of writing we're currently using.

Describe your interpretation of the character's history. If known where did they come from and how did they grow up? Does their past have any notable events or important people?

Satori and Koishi, probably along with a few other satori, originally grew up in the mountains of Japan. They would shy away from most people, as humans and youkai didn't like their power to read thoughts, and the thoughts they would hear would be particularly nasty. As a result of this, Satori's sister, Koishi, in the throes of despair and loneliness, trying to become not hated by everyone else, sealed her third eye, losing her own emotions because of the extreme physical trauma. Satori watched as her sister, who was the one person that Satori herself loved and received love from, grew distant; her her mind now devoid of emotion..

This was a bit too much for the mind-reader, and the fear and sadness of being ostracized from society blossomed into anger that such treatment caused her sister to do something like that to herself. They were then sealed underground by the other youkai, along with the oni.

Describe your character's personality and beliefs. How do they act around those they trust and around others? What about at social gatherings? What parts of their personality do they keep hidden? Please don't limit yourself to one or two personality traits.

Satori trusts almost no one, as every person seems to have some sort of hidden agenda in their hearts. Therefore, Satori has no need for trust, as the truth is easily obtained by her third eye. At social gatherings, she acts polite, but as she can see people's thoughts, Satori often will needle at people for fun. This level of cynical thinking is almost unheard of in others, but since nothing can be hidden from the satori, it is not all that surprising. She does not dislike people once she has met them, usually, unless their intentions are bad.

Hidden from others is her general fear of being ostracized from groups, and the worry that her sister will never return to her former self. It does not do to show fear to those below you in status, as they are more likely to see it as weakness.

What motivates your character? What do they have as long-term goals and what would likely short-term goals be? How do they feel about the ongoing tasks they perform?

Satori mainly just wants to be accepted by other youkai and humans, but she has a very odd way of showing it. Another goal she has is re-opening Koishi's eye by safe means, so that she can be her old self again. Many of her actions revolve around research on third eyes.

Describe the daily and weekly life of your character and what they do for a living. What do they like doing, both as a hobby and less frequently?

Satori generally lazes about the Palace of the Earth Spirits, directing her many pets to do their tasks of regulating the Hell of Blazing fires. Since becoming youkai themselves, her pets have needed less direction, so Satori mainly just sends evil spirits to her cat, Rin Kaenbyou. She is now able to leave the underground as well, since the seal was removed, and has been venturing up to see how people have changed in the many years since her imprisonment underground.

What is the social standing of your character, such as nobility or homeless rabble and do they even care? How do they interact with those different social standing from themselves?

Definitely one of noble standing, Satori acts the part as a Mistress impeccably. She sees herself as the equivalent of Remilia in social standing, though much more reserved and composed. In general, most youkai are considered inferior, as she knows their thoughts and almost always has the upper hand on them in any situation, and will use this to further her own ends if needed.

Describe the powers, abilities, and skills of your character, both magical and mundane. How do they make use of their powers, and what are their limits?

Satori has the innate ability of all satori: the ability to read any thoughts and memories of any living thing within reasonable range of her. As this ability cannot be “turned off”, large crowds bother her eye and cause her to become frustrated and irritable, as her brain receives more thoughts than it can truly handle with no trouble. However, Satori's strength of will is astounding, so she has not yet once become overwhelmed by the thoughts. She can even use her power to cause a mild version of hypnosis.

Satori doesn't have much(read: any) in the way of physical strength, but her magical and calculative prowess is extremely high, even for a youkai. She even has the ability to reproduce a spellcard pattern that has either been used on herself or on her opponent, though it is usually slightly altered.

Describe a short scene of your choosing involving your character. This scene must include at least one line of dialogue originating from your character, and must have at least one other character present.

Now this was an uncommon sight.

A satori was wandering around the human village, in broad daylight. Without any disguises whatsoever!

Entering what seemed to be a small marketplace, Satori shielded her eyes from the blazing sun of the summer. The stands and shops were quaint, if a bit shabby. She was looking for someone specific, however.

Meandering though the village, the satori was given a wide berth from anyone who happened to be around, their thoughts all the same:

I hope she doesn't see me!

Oh god, she knows everything I'm thinking, what do I do!?

Youkai like that are the foulest in existence...

Used to this from before she had been sealed away underground, Satori completely ignored them. They were right to be afraid of her. She could know everything about every one of them. However, it's not like she was a bad person! If they didn't make her angry, everything would be fine!

But her life was never ideal. Just like now.

Satori stopped walking as she came upon what seemed to be a school house, with a woman standing in the doorway. She did not look pleased to see the youkai. “Ah, Keine, correct?” Satori, amused, continued her approach. “I have been searching the village for you, I have need of your assistance.”

Keine just stared back at the Girl Even the Spirits Fear, looking like she was ready for a fight. Her mouth did not move, but Satori had no problem understanding her intentions. Why is this youkai here? She must want to harm the village!

Laughing a bit, Satori looked calmly in the direction of a few more hiding villagers to her left, which caused them to panic and run off. “Do not worry, miss schoolteacher. I am not here to harm or eat anyone.” Turning back to the were-hakutaku, she smiled. “It would be lovely if, when you were available, you could allow me to meet Madam Hieda? I have several things that I must discuss with her.”

“What would that be?” Keine's cold, gruff voice was audibly teeming with aggression.

“That is none of your business, but I suppose I can enlighten you.” Satori's mouth bent into a smirk. “I must inquire about a particular happening from before the underground seal was erected. I hear many thoughts every day, but my memory tends to get a bit fuzzy, so I would like to clarify some things for myself. Once I am able to, I will have no problem leaving your town and not returning, for at least a bit of time.”

Keine reluctantly looked at her students behind her. Easily reading her mind's troubles, Satori chuckled again. “Ah, my apologies, you are in the middle of a class. I shall wait for you to finish, then. Do not mind me.” She began walking towards the schoolhouse again, a small spring in her step. “Would you happen to have any tea? I am quite parched.” Reading Keine's mind again, almost inadvertently, she continued. “Ah, yes, I'll have the black tea. I suppose it will do, since you may not be able to afford better. In return, I shall replenish your tea reserves when I am able to return home.”

The half-human opened her mouth, but the satori cut her off. “No need to thank me! I of course don't mind at all. After all, a pat on your back for a pat on mine is only fair, correct?”
