-Information about the character you are applying-
Name: Rikako Asakura
Canon Appearances: Phantasmorgia of Dim.Dream (Playable character/opponent)
Species: Human

Why are you interested in playing this character?

Rikako has several aspects that appeal to me, ranging from her level headed and almost umemotional approach to things. The fact she's a sort of black sheep and doesn't care what people think of her. Plus she flies with a rocket pack.

Describe the character's personality. Please do not limit yourself to one or two personality trends.

Rikako prides herself on only one thing, being a scientist. She likes to approach any situation with cold logic and untained analysis. However she has been known to get angry if pushed hard enough, it's just rare for her to do so. So she is also openly disdainful of magic and possibly harbours some ill feeling towards herself for using it, especially when she's pushed to the edge. The only time she shows emotion regularly is in the form of interest and curiosity when presented with something that's purely technological in nature.

Describe your interpretation of the character's powers and special abilities. How does she make use of her powers, and what are its limits? You may cite canonical source material, but don't plagiarize.

The number of people who know Rikako's power could be counted on one hand. The reason behind this is due to a deep rooted resentment for the dependance of magic she has seen during her childhood. Despite this, however, she is an amazingly powerful and talented magic user herself, but due to her resentment her magic only ever appears when under great stress or in very serious danger.

In place of magic, Rikako has built and designed many tools which, although having limits to how much they can be used before needing to recharge, are quite capable in thier own right. Her trademark tools are the rocket pack she almost never travels without and her skill as a marksman with her 'home made' beam weapons.

Describe your interpretation of the character's history. You may cite canonical source material, but don't plagiarize.

From a young age Rikako was made to learn magic so as to defend herself. While she was under no obligation to become a youkai hunter or something it was simply so she could venture out in the world of Gensokyo without fear of being on the menu. At least, that was how her parents visualised it. In truth she absolutely hated how magic seemed to be everyone's answer to everything. Want to get around easier? Fly with MAGIC! In a fix and need to defend yourself? Magic! Humans were becoming far too dependant on it and one day she was sure it would come around and bite them.

One day while browsing the shop set up, in the strangest of places, the border of the forest of magic and titled 'Kourindou' she came across a fascinating object. There was no magic present in it at all but with a simple movement produced a spray of danamaku, more or less. The owner and proprieter of the shop, after asking her to stop shooting holes everywhere, explained to her that this was an object called a gun and many things existed in the outside world like this due to something called science. Needless to say she was completely taken by this and immediatly began to dedicate herself to it's study. As one might expect, her family did not take kindly to this and she began to grow distanced from them. When even the Hakurei shrine maiden branded her a heretic, she left the village without so much as a goodbye, setting up a home in an out of the way area so she could continue her studies and research in peace. She didn't hold too much contempt, after all it was only natural for people to be distrusting of something new and relativly unknown.

Though the solitude was nice, having little human contact resulted in a dulled sense of empathy, having no one to really talk to and share interests with dulled her expressiveness over the years. Though this did change slightly when she finally met an individual with not only the same interests, but a shockingly similar name. Doing what any responsible scientist would do, she decided to nurture her interest, noting with keen interest how quickly she took to technology. Especially the armoured vehicles she'd read so much about even though she seemed... somewhat excitable at times. Nevertheless, the two learned a great deal from each other as they both helped develop and nurture thier mutual interest in all things none magical.

What motivates your character? What do they have as long-term goals, even vague ones?

Rikako is motivated by a few things, though the most outstanding reason behind her chosen path is curiosity. Why did people push her away or try to halt her? What made science so forbidden? Was it only because people were afraid of the unfamiliar or was there perhaps some other purpose? These are questions she hopes to answer one day while at the same time allowing for people to cope without the use of magic and still be completely safe, which in turn will allow them to persue other things rather than spend thier time training. Well, there's also the fact it's just so interesting, all the things science seems capable of doing without even a lick of magic? That alone was enough to drive her.

Your character was walking down the road one day and a noisy youkai approaches them and begins causing trouble, including making boasting threats. How does your character react?

Preferring to spend her time away from others, Rikako rarely has encountered something such as this. If all they're making is noise then she would dismiss them. Unless of course that noise was interrupting any research she was conducting at the time. If the youkai was being a little more than noisy, however, she would have full confidence in her skills and weaponry to dispatch any foe that might want to 'volunteer' to be her 'assistant' in field testing this assortment of weaponry.

Your character meets an old acquaintance while running an errand; they approach and ask you for a favor. How does your character respond?

A rare occurrence in general, seeing how most people are practically strangers to Rikako barring a few. All but one of who she generally sees in a neutral light. If the errand is of no importance (ie, not reseach) then she may be persuaded to offer aid, if the favor offors a research opportunity then she would go without hesitation. After all, errands can be done just about anytime really. Research, however, may not wait.

Describe a short scene of your choosing involving your character. This scene must include at least one line of dialog originating from your character, and must have at least one other character present.

It was another average day in Gensokyo, the sun shining, birds singing, trees swaying in a light breeze. An average day that wasn't racked by some incident or other of course. Though in one particular part of the sky, the silence is broken by the roar of flame as a girl dressed in a labcoat flew by, a pair of metal lumps on her back was spewing the flame and propelling her through the air. Looking to the left she tilts her body and gently steers in that direction before straigtening up and tipping in the other direction. Her new rockets seemed to be functioning perfectly.... Seemed being the relative word as the pack seemed to sputter slightly and became less responsive. "No! Not again!" A small explosion in the left side caused her to go spiraling down towards the ground, her vision blurring and flashing red out as she collides with it. With a cough and a bit of a headache she pushes herself up, wincing slightly, that was quite a rough tumble she took.

Nothing broken... Except her pack of course, few scrapes here and there, probably a sprained arm, her vision still seemed hazy.... And then looking on the floor she realised way. "Damnit... My glasses..." Third pair this month, she really probably should've gotten some made with something a little more sturdy. With a sigh she picks them up and tries to bend the frames back, she knew her injuries could've been a lot worse, had she not softened the landing before collision. It made her sigh that once again only because of magic had this not ended in complete disaster, the reflexes drilled into her head making sure of that. She examined her glasses after the quick field repair, the right lens was cracked but she could still see, the left was a little less usable but it'd do for now until she could get a new pair. Putting them on as best she could she stands up, staightening her coat as she rises, she seemed to have landed in a cave of some sort, the small ammount of light spilling in only illuminating a part of the entrance. Straining her eyes revealed no other details, except a voice calling out, wait, voice?

She had to quickly close her eyes as suddenly the cave was bathed in light. "Y'know, most people use thier feet to land." Came a youthful sounding voice. Adjusting to the brightness Rikako lowered her arm and saw a blonde girl, barely a teenager dressed in a sailor outfit. Coughing, Rikako tries again in vain to straighten herself out a little more. "Yes, well, most people don't fall out of the sky either." Taking note of the object in her hand, that looked like... A gun? "So... You another one of those youkai looking for a fight or something?" She demanded. Rikako shook her head, though her eyes were being drawn to the object the girl still held by her side. "No, actually I'm human." Her 'hostess' cocked an eyebrow at this. "And yet you just get up and brush off after falling from that height? You must have some pretty amazing magical ability!" Rikako sighed again, as was becoming a habit it seemed. "Alright, if you must know, yes, I used magic to slow my fall.... I'm working on a project that will allow me to do that without the use of such." She explained. "Oooh you mean like a parachute? Why not just use one of those or something?" The look of confusion on her face made it apparent that was something she hadn't quite yet learned about. "A parachute? Are you saying such a thing exists?"

The sailor chuckled a little, holstering her weapon, she figured it was time to earn herself some major credit. "Tell you what, I'll make a deal with you, we do some tests on your magic and I'll help you fix that pack of yours, deal?" She pondered this, on one hand she was being offered, not only information on new types of none magical tools but possibly being taught new techniques and all they wanted was to know about magic? Of course she would have to question the motives, maybe find out why she was so interested in something like magic if her technology was so advanced, but she seemed geniune enough, standing completely unarmed. "Hm, perhaps we could come to an arrangement." The girl smiled and turned, leading Rikako elsewhere. "Name's Chiyuri by the way." She said. "Rikako Asakura." Was the only response.
